The Backpocket mobile app is built with Expo and React Native, designed with an offline-first architecture. It works without a network connection, syncs in the background, and integrates natively with your phone’s share sheet.

Install the app

Download Backpocket from the App Store.Requires iOS 16 or later. Compatible with iPhone and iPad.

Sign in

Open the app and sign in with the same account you used on the web. Your saves, tags, and collections sync automatically.
The app boots instantly using cached data — no splash screen blocking while waiting for the network. If you’re offline, you’ll see your most recent data right away.
The fastest way to save on mobile is the share sheet:

Find something to save

Open any app — Safari, Chrome, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, or any app with a share button.

Tap Share

Tap the system share button and select Backpocket from the share sheet.

Done

The link saves instantly with auto-extracted metadata. You’ll feel a haptic tap confirming the save.
You can also save manually by tapping the + button on the home screen and pasting a URL. The mobile app uses tab navigation:

Mobile-specific features

The app stores your saves locally in SQLite with a file cache. You can browse, search, and read saved content without any internet connection. New saves and changes queue up and sync automatically when you reconnect.You can configure sync to only happen on WiFi to save mobile data.Learn more about offline mode →
Swipe left or right on any save for quick actions:
  • Swipe right — Toggle favorite
  • Swipe left — Archive or delete
Pull down on any list to trigger a sync and refresh your data.
The app uses subtle haptic feedback for key actions like saving, favoriting, and archiving.
Backpocket supports the backpocket:// URL scheme for deep links. Links shared from the app open directly in the mobile app when installed.
